We recently added a bimini for the sundeck of Sea Mischief. This has been a consideration since buying our tug four years ago. Three weeks of 95-100 degree weather last summer in the canals and Lake Champlain convinced us to take action.
The bimini is made of DuBonnet Tweed by Sunbrella. This seems to go well with the brick red hull of Sea Mischief. There are four bows, the aft one of which is in a fixed position with stanchions connected to the sundeck rails. This configuration allows the bimini to be folded back and a boot of the same material to be put in place and zippered shut when underway. This minimizes windage and wear and tear on the bimini itself. It takes only 4-5 minutes to deploy the bimini or store it inside its boot for traveling. When folded back, access to the sundeck is not hindered in any way.
This addition to our tug will make the sundeck much more useable and will have the benefit of shading the salon and reducing the overall heat load.
