In addition to our recently installed sundeck bimini, we have now installed a bimini over the aft cockpit.
This smaller bimini is made of the same Sunbrella Dubonnet Tweed material as used for the sundeck bimini. There are two bows which lean aft leaving the cockpit entrance on each side of Sea Mischief fully open. The bows have been made in four pieces so that this frame can be easily dismantled, or the bows can lean forward and be fastened to the rails of the sundeck and ladder. This allows very quick removal of the canvas and securing of the bows for traveling in very windy weather. The canvas is fastened to the bows and stanchions with zippers and snaps so it is easily removed and folded for storage.
This aft-cockpit bimini reduces the heat-load in the cockpit and salon rather significantly. Now, it is very pleasant to sit in the cockpit in mid-afternoon with a bright sun coming across the stern of the boat. The aft-cockpit bimini has a circular door with zipper for the ladder to the sundeck. This makes for complete shade, but full and very easy access to the sundeck.
